It's been a fairly dull week in London, and so things have come on relatively slowly in the garden here; but as my slight sun burn suggests, I spent the week in hotter climes - up on the West Coast of Scotland!

Most of this weeks programme is focused on my trip to Helensburgh and the gardens and gardeners I visited there. Helensburgh is a beautiful seaside town about an hours drive from Glasgow, where many people come to enjoy a holiday. There are lots beautiful gardens in the area both private and public (including the recently restored Garden at Charles Renee Mackintosh's 'Hill House'), and I went to visit two local gardeners during my stay. Cathy Boland has a beautiful house with a lovely landscaped garden at Garelochead, and Jenny Geoffrey showed me her wonderful collection of plants which grow well in the local conditions.

Both of these Gardens gave me lots of ideas for the small M.O.D garden that I also worked on transforming whilst I was up. This was very hard work but resulted in a nice low maintenance space that the future inhabitants of No. 2 Frobisher Place will be able to enjoy. You can read about how we transformed the garden; and the trees, shrubs and plants we used on this site.

Some things things did come on in London despite the weather - the forget-me-nots and bluebells are still going strong in the borders and this week the seeds of "Love in a Mist" that I planted out two weeks ago have started to come through. You may also remember at the same time I put in some seeds to germinate indoors in a propagator, in this weeks programme I showed you how to prick these out into small pots.

I really had a great time up in Helensburgh, and many thanks are due to the team of people who helped me with all aspects of the project. I will be returning to Frobisher Place in two weeks time to see how the garden I created is coming along. I hope you enjoyed good weather in your garden this week and that you'll visit the other gardens shown on this site.
