Trees and shrubs I used at 2 Frobisher Place:

Trees and Shrubs

  • Sorbus Cashmiriani
This will eventually grow to about 6m high with a 4m spread, it has red autumn foliage and pink flowers in spring, and more importantly for spreading interest throughout the year in autemn it has pinkish white marble like berries. It is also said in Scotland to ward off witches and evil spirits!
  • Magnolia Stellata
This is one of my all time favourite shrubs it has beautiful white 'star' shaped flowers in early sring - I planted it in the corner of the garden opposite the kitchen window.
  • Viburnam Burkwoodii
This has dark green glossy leaves all year, with fragrant white flowers in spring.
  • Chaenomeles Japonica (superba 'Pink Lady')
This particular variety has rosey pink flowers in spring and apple-like fruits in autumn.
  • Berberis Thunbergii ('Rose Glow')
This is the pink variegated Barberry, where the old purplish foliage contrasts with fresh shoots which are dappled pink & white. It also bears bright red fruit and will eventually reach about 2.5 m high.
  • Choisya Ternata
This has wonderfully fragrant white flowers in spring.
  • Cornus Alba ('spaethii')
This aprticular dogwoo has insignificant white flowers in May/June but more importantly it will provide winter colour from its bright red stems infront of the kitchen window in the winter.
  • Pieris Japonica ('debutante') This is the smallest shrub I used with an ultimate hieght of about 80cm, you could see the lovely spring flowers which were out when I planted it.
