It's A Knockout
Project: Live event in the format of a competitive team game hosted by Pope & Guthrie
Date: Bow Festival 16/07/03; Coniston Water Festival 18/09/05
Commissioner: Originally commissioned by [space] for the Bow Festival (London, UK) and 'It's a Lake District Knockout' commissioned by Coniston Water Festival (Cumbria, UK)
Pope & Guthrie's first performance of this event was 'It's an East End Knockout' which took place over an afternoon in July 2003 on the Roman Road Market in East London (UK). The teams were all local east end 'stakeholders' - Pearly Kings and Queens, Market Traders and Artists.
The 2nd version of the event - at the Coniston Water Festival on 18/09/05 - had competing teams of Locals, Tourists, Sailors and 'Nationals'.
The National Trust team - led by Jim Loxham - won the event, raising more than £100 for their chosen charity, "Fix the fells".
