The Van Driver's Tale
This was Steve Ireland's second 'pilgrimage' to his childhood home in Corringham, Essex. Steve had left this house as a very young child, returning recently on a whim to find himself overwhelmed by memories of his time there.
In his Prologue he remembers this return, and considers the nostalgia he hopes to overcome second time round.
On the day of 'broadcast', Steve experienced a cathartic exorcism, realising the 'ordinariness' of the place, and his Tale (illustated by this map he drew from memory), describes how he is finally able to free himself of nostalgia.
