Five years ago I passed my driving test. A Hypnotherapist who I knew offered me a free hypnosis session to ensure success. He counted me under and took me confidently through each manoeuvre, telling me how well I was driving and how confident I felt. After we had been through the driving test he said that the session was over but would I like to see the next piece of sculpture I was going to make. I said yes. He told me I was in a room and described it to me. This is what I saw. There was a small vase of purple and red anenomes on a wooden table. The walls of the dark room were raw brick and the bright blue day shone through the windows. There was a staircase on the right side of the room which led down to the garden. He counted me slowly down the stairs and turned me towards the garden. After that point there were no words. The garden had a high wall and dark green shrubs. The grass was bouncy under my feet and sprang between my toes. The garden was warm in the sun with the clouds speeding overhead. I went off in search of my next sculpture, afraid that I wouldn't find anything. I came across it between the shrubs. It was luminous, bigger than me and moving towards me. It's structure was impossible, changing continuously. It moved weightlessly as we circled and displayed our body forms to each other. We both laughed and left the garden. |
