The Writer's Tale - David Kirkup made a 'detour' on the morning of his journey, to visit a clairvoyant from Mysteries on Monmouth Street in London. Later described as a "cross between Bette Midler and the Wife of Bath" she didn't really suggest what he might expect from his day, but did shower him with other facts relating to money, fortune, electricity and relations!
On the day, after David's Prologue, we played a video clip filmed during the Clairvoyant
session earlier that morning, after which David spoke live from the end of the Pier.
Happy to be there, he described the 'slush puppy' and whelk stalls of his actual surroundings, as well as musing on what he had perhaps hoped to find there.
David's tale ended as he read a short extract from his story "The end of the Pier".
