More Information

Working in collaboration with EAFA, we decided to spend a production week on a riverboat in Norwich, making a series of short films on an aspect of local culture that interested us - the marketing of Norfolk tourism via film and tv made there. The films were to feature local people who volunteered to be interviewed. We donated these films directly to the Archive, and they were logged live on their website, as lyrically-written text descriptions.

After our production week, we left our live/work boat open to the public on the River Wensum moored behind Norwich Playhouse. The boat interior was an installation and an online link to the archive was offered via the laptop on board, accessing our film descriptions and the general EAFA archive. To view our actual films visitors could / can choose to travel to the actual archive on the University of East Anglia campus.

As an additional part of the project we put together a one-off film show, "Summer Holidays", in collaboration with EAFA and composer Tim Olden. The film show used edited extracts from EAFA archive footage of the Norfolk Broads - from home movies, to holiday adverts and a documentary about swans! We projected these with the new soundtrack in a public screening at Norwich's Cinema City, a venue for which we have now been commissioned to produce another piece - Almanac.
